- Prepares specifications and ensures the availability of materials and equipment for approved maintenance activities ensuring that the details prepared are technically accurate and commercially acceptable.
- Carries out the technical review of spare parts, materials and equipment and ensures they are available to maintain plant and equipment in optimum condition as directed by supervisor.
- Ensures that the material/equipment required for planned maintenance activities and projects are technically acceptable and available in line with approved schedules.
- Liaise with Purchasing Team to ensure that operational target dates for materials/equipment delivery are adhered to and that undue delays are avoided.
- Resolves all technical queries and investigates all discrepancies on materials/spare parts and equipment specifications. Issues status reports on materials/equipment highlighting problems encountered and recommends solutions.
- Responsible for technical evaluation of tenders received from Purchasing Team and determines suitability of offers indicating deviation from the specifications. Includes liaising with Project and Maintenance Engineers to identify the suitability of materials and equipment and determining alternative specifications acceptable for user's application.
- Reviews technical manuals and drawings and recommends technically acceptable alternatives where original items are not available or have caused problems/failures. Reviews and identifies the relevance of technical information for equipment technical history databanks and advises the concerned section.
- Commits and works to deliver good risk management performance.
- Seeks to improve knowledge and understanding of effective risk management principles and practices through continuing personal development and and keep up with the latest developments in material technology, adhering to HSEMS rules and regulations and implementing development training for subordinates.
