· Conducts regular rounds in all hospital departments to discuss, monitor and follow all Health Care Associated Infections, Infection present on admission and other communicable diseases.

· Collects data of HAI from all assigned departments and maintain records for each case, in accordance with CDC definitions.

· Participates and assists in the organization of regularly scheduled hospital Infection Control Committee meetings.

· Collaborates with IC doctor and identifies hindrance in implementation of IC policies and takes necessary steps to overcome those, by coordinating with other departments.

· Ensures proper management of waste, soiled linen, contaminated reusable instruments and environmental cleaning and disinfection, in order to prevent cross infection.

· Monitors the procedure of specimen collection, transport and handling both at point of care and laboratories. Reports any incidents and mishandling and take corrective measures as needed.

· Collaborates with CSSD staff in all matters related to sterilization and disinfection.

· Ensures that HCP’s are free from infectious diseases by periodic monitoring and vaccination programs.

· Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives, in-service education programs and unit meetings as assigned.

· Initiates emergency, safety practices and fire safety measures as necessary.

· Maintains appropriate MOH Nursing Competencies in line with CDC, NHSN and KNHSS to continue personal and professional development.
